We are back on Friday morning rounding up the top Auburn Tigers stories ahead of the weekend.
This weekend will be highlighted by a rivalry renewed once again. A little Iron Bowl flavor to this weekend’s slate of college baseball games. The Alabama Crimson Tide cruise into Auburn to take on the Tigers at Plainsman Park. It marks the final SEC series at home for the Tigers. Next weekend they will travel to Lexington, Kentucky, for battle with the Wildcats ahead of the SEC Tournament in Hoover.
Today’s top stories include former Miami Hurricanes WR Dazalin Worsham officially putting ink to paper. Also, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey recalls that day at HQ when reporters were having a stakeout at every entrance and exit to the building.

Head coach Bryan Harsin and the Auburn staff landed a former Miami Hurricanes WR in the transfer portal recently. Dazalin Worsham played his high school games in Trussville, Alabama, before signing with the Canes. He worked with current Auburn quarterback Robby Ashford during the Under Armour All-American Game and now could be catching passes from him again.
Auburn announced that Worsham officially signed with the Tigers on Thursday.

Rumors circulated in regards to his job status after the Board of Trustees opened an investigation into the head coach. Many thought that after one season on the Plains that Harsin was on the way out.

They didn’t fire the former Boise State head coach, but on the day of the meeting, the media waited at every exit to get a quote from the coach.
“On that particular day, I rolled in, and I realized that people have learned all of our exits at the office,” Sankey said via AL.com. “I walked in the back door, and I saw the cameras. There also were cameras at the front door. It was a distraction, but there was a high level of focus on some important conversations.”
“There seemed to be a lot of interest considering how many cameras and reporters were around,” Sankey said. “It was different than anything I ever expected to encounter rolling into a workday. But within the meeting, everything was about business. In a lot of ways, it was like any other meeting.”
Former Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham could be on the move. The New England Patriots have Mac Jones as the returning starter and they added former Western Kentucky quarterback Bailey Zappe in the 2022 NFL draft.
The former Auburn quarterback was taken in the fourth round of the 2019 draft and quickly became the backup to Tom Brady. When Brady left for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers it seemed like the job was Stidhams, but another former Auburn quarterback swooped in.
Cam Newton signed with the team ahead of the 2020 season and became the starting quarterback. Stidham was once again blocked ahead of the 2021 season when the Patriots drafted Mac Jones in the first round.

Well, you can’t win them all in the world of recruiting. After securing former LSU pledge Yohan Traore, the Tigers were unable to go two-for-two with power forward Julian Phillips. Both players opted to re-open their recruitment following the firing of Will Wade. Traore will suit up on the Plains and the Tigers will face off against Julian Phillips when they play the Vols.
Philips, like new Auburn commit Yohan Traore, was slated to go to LSU before head coach Will Wade’s departure led to him de-committing. Traore chose Auburn as his destination, but Philips decided not to follow his teammate and to head to Knoxville, Tennessee to play for the Volunteers instead.
Philips would have gone to an SEC champion either way — Auburn clinched the regular-season SEC title last year, but the Volunteers were the winners of 2022’s SEC tournament. The Tigers played Tennessee once last year for the Big 12/SEC Challenge, where they lost 67-62 in Knoxville. – River Wells, Auburn Wire contributor
